Danilia Village, Corfu: An Honest Review 2025
Visiting Danilia Village allows you to step back in time to experience a 1930s Corfiot village. This unique attraction on Corfu was actually built in the late 1970s, and was designed to replicate the architecture and atmosphere of old Corfu.
As I wandered through the deserted streets, taking in the pastel-colored buildings and rustic details, I felt like I had discovered a hidden gem.
Originally a private venture, Danilia Village faced tough times and was eventually taken over by a hotel chain. This change has enabled the village to open again as a quirky and fun activity on Corfu. Whether you’re a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or simply someone looking to explore beyond the beaches, Danilia Village offers a refreshing alternative.
Beyond its role as a tourist attraction, Danilia Village has also served as a film set for the TV series The Durrells and is a wedding and events venue. Intrigued? Read on to learn more about what makes this somewhat eccentric place a must-visit spot in Corfu.
How to get to Danilia Village without a car

It’s easy to reach Danilia Village without a car, as it’s so near to Corfu Town and bus #4 goes directly from the blue bus station and stops right outside the gates.
However, although there is a direct bus, it doesn’t run very often. If you miss the direct bus, you can still get to Danilia Village, but you’ll need to take bus #7 from Corfu Town (journey time is 15 minutes). Get off at the stop called ‘Spiti Prifit’ in Gouvia. From there you have to cross a busy road and walk 30 minutes to Danilia Village.
I took bus #7 and walked and, although some of the walk was on a fast road, there wasn’t too much traffic. The speed of the traffic means it’s not a good option if you are travelling with kids though.
If you’re visiting by car there is parking is available in front of the entrance to Danilia Village.
How much does Danilia Village cost?

Tickets for Danilia Village can be bought at the entrance and cost €10 for adults and €5 for children.
The price includes a drink at the bar (soft drink or beer).
If you’re a guest at Grecotel hotels on Corfu you can buy a package which includes entrance to Danilia Village and transport, there and back, for €20.
Opening hours
Daily, 10 am to 7 pm (May to October).
What’s it like?

I visited Danilia Village on a scorching hot day. So, I was very glad to arrive after the short walk and find shaded places to sit. I was also surprised to find that there was hardly anyone else there when I arrived.

Taking my time to look at everything and not rush in the heat meant I spent three hours at the village. I also stopped for a drink at the bar. However, you could easily see it all in an hour or less.

The main attractions of the village set are:
- Wandering down the street.
- Taking photos of the colourful traditional buildings.
- Visiting the shops, for souvenirs like olive oil, soap, snacks or clothing.
- Relaxing with a drink at the café/bar.
- Viewing the old wine press.
- Looking inside the church and getting photos of the classic bell tower.

Plus, don’t miss the museum. It’s up a set of stairs, above the bar. The museum is one of the best things about Danilia Village.
What was filmed at Danilia Village?
Danilia Village has been used as a film set for several tv shows and films, including:
- The Durrells, tv series (currently on Netflix UK)
- For Your Eyes Only, film (James Bond)

In addition to the outdoor spaces, Danilia Village has a huge indoor area ideal for dining and dancing.

The aesthetic appeal of Danilia Village’s vibrant colors and historical details would provide a stunning backdrop for wedding photos, capturing the essence of your special day in a distinctive way.
What are the aesthetics like?
One of the main attractions of Danilia Village is the aesthetics. The pastel colours and rustic details create a pleasing backdrop. Here’s a selection of photos from my own trip to inspire your visit:

The Museum

One of the most interesting things to do at Danilia Village is to visit the museum. It’s packed full of authentic artefacts, curated from across Corfu.

There are farming tools, domestic appliances, photos and different room set ups. The machine for removing offensive odours from a bed made me laugh out loud.
Entrance to the museum is included in the ticket price.
Is it worth visiting Danilia Village?

Danilia Village is a unique and quirky place to uncover.
It’s not very well-known, so you may only share your visit it with a few other people. Which is great if you love slow travel and want to take your time wandering around or getting photos for Instagram.
The slight downside of Danilia Village is that it doesn’t have a lot going on. It feels like there’s a bit of a missed opportunity to have more information throughout the different buildings and live actors playing roles, as you get in other ‘living outdoor museum’ attractions.
However, overall, I really enjoyed my visit. In particular, because I’m a fan of the TV series The Durrells. If you’ve watched the series, it’s exciting to make that connection and see where some of it was filmed.

If you’ve not seen the TV series, Danilia Village is a pleasant place to visit and is a great option if you’re looking for something to do in Corfu that’s different from the beach.
Sure, it’s not the most exciting attraction to visit, but sometimes slowing down and taking a laid-back approach to travel is just what you need.
If you’ve only got very limited time on Corfu there are other activities which I recommend you do first. These are visiting the stunning beaches of Antipaxos and spending time on the gorgeous island of Paxos.

Hi Katie
Can you just turn up and pay at the gate or do you have to book please?
We are three ladies visiting Corfu in June and would like to see the Village. We were supposed to go last year as part of a private island tour but it was on a Saturday and there was a wedding so we were told it wasn’t possible.
Thanks in advance Fiona
Yes you can still turn up and pay at the entrance. I did this last summer and have very recently checked directly with Danilia Village who confirmed that it’s still possible. Hope you do get to have a look around this time!
